In fact, we see Ken much of a trouble-maker himself in Gatch by running off alone many a time, disobeying Dr. Nambu and acting like the way he did in this episode, etc, etc! Sometimes, he's more stubborn than Joe, not to say always! Everyone is human and that's what I like in the Gatch series! Being a hero does not mean that mistakes cannot be done! Moreover, it's also shown how the team members learn from their own mistakes as time passes by!

Make that all three.

One of my all-time favorite scenes.
quote: | I like how this episode creates continuity, as we've been seeing the Team, in recent episodes, complaining that Galactor's too familiar with their tactics, that they need weapons on their vehicles and that the bird missiles don't work against mechas anymore (I'm guessing this was what Joe was brooding and pessimistic about at the beginning, as he was the one doing most of the complaining about the BM's ineffectiveness in previous episodes). |
|
And meanwhile the request for the weapons the team realized that they needed back in ep 57 lay somewhere in beaucratic la-la land.
Seriously, Dirk was pretty pessimistic about this mission, too. And a glance over the last ten or so episodes shows why. Each episode since 57 shows Galactor making their mechas a little better, a little stronger, a little harder to defeat. Between 57 and 67, there was the Buddha mech, the Sky Squealer, the Snow Devel, that weird giant brain/robot mech creature, to name a few. And each was a little harder to defeat than the ones before.
I think the Gatch and GoS Condors realized that the Phoenix's armaments were getting farther and farther behind Galactor's -and that the teams were going to get bitten big time eventually. Which they did.
Incidentally, Computor never shows any interest in anything other than conquering Earth. Although he's not too thrilled with Galactor's performance in that regard.
