I'm not an expert on British English, but I have spent some time studying it, and if I tried, could likely fool non-British speakers into thinking I am. I have never seen fizz used in this context.

The word brings a completely opposite image of what they are trying to convey.

Also, do you like how that panel with the 'rockets fizz' makes it seems as if Princess fired the missiles? She's taking Jason's job! Maybe that's why the rockets 'fizzled'... if Jason had fired them, they would have 'zoomed' or some such! Big Grin
