Perhaps that is why the show still resonates with so many of us, aside from the groundbreaking animation for the time and solid characters.
I do understand the reservations people have with technology, I just don't understand their all or nothing stance. Or to take it one step further and require that it all be banned as blasphemy.
Don't get me wrong, I'd be alarmed if someone cloned a whole human (and probably start thinking of clone wars a la Star Wars); however, I don't think we should dismiss the potential of being able to clone parts for organs that might lower even farther reduce the possibility of rejection and shorten donor lists waiting times. Why toss out the possibility of nerve or tissue regenerations because we don't like the source of the research.
Yes, there is a possibility for abuse. But we can't let that possibility control us. After all, if you ask the TSA cupcakes, baby food, formula, contact lens solution, drinking water, etc. can all be abused.
We should not allow the fear abuse to keep us from the potential.
