BOTP help !!!

HELP!

In the series, is there a word or phrase that Keyop uses to describe Princess? I know he refers to her a couple of times as something like a slave driver, for making him wash the dishes, but I am looking for something more flattering or complimentary.

No Unlike in Gatchaman, there is no consistent affectionate way in which Keyop refers to Princess.

Probably reflects the Western way in that people don't tend to refer to others in an affectionate way unless they are in a relationship.

They are in a relationship, in a matter of speaking: little brother - big sister relationship. (but I do understand what you are really implying Maddy.)

I was thinking about little brother worship, but maybe that does not really happen except in a Jun Cleaver world. Maybe it is more envy a younger sibling has instead of worship these days. Especially with children these days never seeming to leave the "ME, me, me" phase of their life.

Let's try this: Does Jinpei have any positive comments to say about Jun? That is an Asian culture I think of them as being more respectful.

This is Keyop and Princess. I don't recall any pet names between them. They don't even refer to each other in a familial manner.

It's my experience that, somehow, you simultaneously admire and resent your older siblings. They boss you around to no end, take complete control of selecting the TV channels and radio stations and pretty much guarantee you will never ride in the front seat of the car unless it's just you and one parent, and exclude you from their doings because you're "just a kid," but then they also teach you any number things you wouldn't learn so quickly otherwise, explain complicated movie/TV plots, help you with your homework, bequeath their entire lego collection to you, and make damned sure that no one outside the family ever messes with you.

But on the subject of Keyop, and can't recall any consistent term or phrase he uses for Princess -or anyone else, for that matter.

Jinpei seems to have more of that going one, with the "Onechan" and "Aniki" etc. It's clear he cares tremendously for Jun (ie. his grief when she goes missing in the jigokillers eps) even as he gives her a hard time about her cooking, not being "lady-like," making him wash dishes etc. The one time I can recall him showing a lot of affection to her face is when he's in bed after his buggy accident in the "Dave the Hippie" episode and Jun brings him some food (but that ep didn't get used in BOTP).

Jinpei is also quick to turn to Jun when he's scared or sad. (How many times has he jumped into her arms on a mission?)

I believe Keyop just called her 'Princess'.

Sorry, I don't recall Keyop calling Princess anything other than Princess, either.

Although, I remember in the "Curse of the Cuttlefish - Part 1," Mark telling Keyop to "pretend Princess is your sister. I know it's a big acting job ..."

So, do you think Mark was being serious, or was he just being sarcastic? If he was truly being serious, it would imply that they all saw each other as friends and teammates, but not having a deeper, familial relationship beyond that.

If he was being sarcastic, I guess that would prove they saw each other as siblings!

RIgirl, I always believed Keyop and Princess saw each other as siblings. But then for some reason I missed the "engineered" part for Keyop.
Of course I missed a lot of little implications others seemed to have caught.

I also had a feeling since these two were orphans and saw themselves as "siblings" they had closer "family" feelings than the others had but I guess I was wrong about that.

Of course it wont make a difference what I do in my AU. I just wanted to use a phrase that reflected on one Keyop had (or might have) used duing the series.

I think they did have a closer bond than he had with any of the others. Princess always seemed to be one he turned to in a crisis, and he was really upset with her for taking off on her own and then getting captured by the flowers. That was not the reaction of "just a teammate".

I believe he viewed Mark as an authority figure, Jason as role-model, in that rebelious sense, Tiny as a partner in crime and Princess as his protector.

Just my two-cents worth.

Well, in my AU they are siblings in that they were both adopted by the same family and raised together for a few years before they began training at the Foundation.

Of course the adoption was only a formality, a way to recognize the children as being at the Foundation - a form of ownership of the children. Treating them as objects instead of people so the Board does not have to think about the "experiments" they will be performing on the children.

I hope this does not seem too callous. I don't think everyone at the Foundation did this (maybe not Anderson, especially after Mark was involved) but a some people at the Foundation must have thought this way.

Garnet, I think you hit the relationship roles pretty well on.

I'm wondering if he might have looked to Mark and Princess as surrogate parents, even though they were too young to fill that role. Possibly he did not have enough positive (parental) adult contact and clung to the two people who he perceived most fit that role.

I agree with Garnet.

I never got the impression in BotP any of them thought of each other as siblings, even though some of us have written them as such.

The only time I ever remember Princess and Keyop being together outside of a work location was the episode when Keyop was kidnapped by his pet beetle.

I think at one time he called her a "killjoy" when he wanted to go to the amusement park and she said something like not now. Smile I hope that helps. Smile
