Great Job, LB & Saturn!

This was always one of my favorites. If we could just get rid of the Zark scenes this episode would have been perfect.

LB, I completely agree, the subs of this episode are better than the dub (that one line is completely incongruent with scene. They really should have left it with the romantic angle rather than trying to force machismo into it.

It certainly makes her seem like a better person than Maya, who was obviously faking the mannequin attack on the taxi to lure in a Science Ninja.

We'd have to assume, I suppose, that Tyna got scared when she woke up in the hospital and realized that if she didn't go back and keep working on the plot for Spectra, her parents would suffer. That would explain why she attacked the nurse (though attacking the nurse kind of seems like an unnecessary act, in the Gatch and BOTP versions -she could easily have just snuck out of the hospital when the nurse wasn't around).

It's never made clear, but perhaps Galactor used Maya's escape attempt as bait for the SNT. If it succeeded, great; if not -- they were going to kill her anyway. (How could Maya believe Galactor would let her leave? It must have been drilled into her that nobody leaves Galactor alive.)



I've always assumed that the whole purpose behind having the mannequins randomly attacking people was to attract and then capture the Science Ninjas, and that Maya in the taxi was trying to do that rather than escaping (like Tyna) but it's very interesting to think that she might have been fleeing Galactor, or at least seriously considering it.


As for thinking that she'd be allowed to leave Galactor, I can only think that it was desperate optimism or that she didn't entirely believe she'd be allowed to leave but hoped she'd be able to hide well enough that Galactor wouldn't find her. I agree, you'd think that by episode 70, word would have gotten around in Galactor circles that nobody gets to leave (alive)!

And they could go on tour with the "Demon 5" from ep. 41 -the names would look good together on a double bill.

Speaking of death girls, I still wish there'd been more as to exactly how the mannequins (and especially Maya) were inflicting instant mummification on people (and why the Ninjas were resistant to it). It was definitely creepy -which is probably why that got cut out entirely from BOTP.

When Dirk goes to see Maya (yes, that name made it thru) in the hospital, he gets suspicious when the nurse gets attacked. He thinks that maybe Ace was right (and there's a short flashback). Then Dirk decides that he can't let the girl out of his sight.

Dr. Nambu left the catalogs where Joe could get them, after he'd obviously been looking at them. Of course Joe's gonna look at them!

I think this ep has the most marvelous backgrounds in the 85 eps that were made into the GoS series. Those Greek murals are fantastic.

When Dirk makes contact with G-Force after getting nabbed, he has enough time to tell them that he's 'surrounded by mummies, believe it or not!' and make a smart remark to the Mummy Manikin Captain that he 'liked her better as a brunette'. But he doesn't tell them where he is. Rolleyes And he gets clobbered by the mummy's hand right after he makes the 'brunette' crack. I don't think she liked it. Evillaugh

Yes, Ace figures out where Dirk is from that little piece of white stuff (plaster).

Maybe she was also peeved at him for calling her out on her disguise this early in the episode?

It seems that Joe doesn't realize (or at least fully accept) that this blond woman is Maya until she's dying, near the end, (and the big reveal when her mask and wig fall off then certainly ups the angst quotient). If Jason knows here that she's actually Tyna in disguise, he doesn't say anything to indicate it...

Hi all!

I was thinking, if you enjoyed the backgrounds seen in this episode, you might want to take a closer look at other episodes where Nonomiya did the backgrounds, which include episode #'s 57, 65, 68, 70, 77, 83, 94, 90, 94, and 100.

Most of Mr. Nonomiya's work was done as an Art Director for episodes of the series, including #'s 4, 5, 11, 12, 15, 17, 19, 21, 25, 27, 29, 31, 32, 34, 35, 37, 40, 43, 46, 50, 51, 54, 55, 59, 61, 63, 71, 73, 75, 79, 81, 85, 87, 88, 89, 91, 93, 96, 98, 101, 102, and 104.

And your trivia fact for the day: For all the episodes prior to episode #40, Mr. Nonomiya is credited under his real name of Tsuneo Nonomiya, but starting with episode #40, all his credits are for Tsuneto Nonomiya. I have no idea why he made the name change, but he continued to switch between the two names for the rest of his career.
