This is, like, the thirtd or fourth time I've been told I write pregnancy fics ...
People, what fics are you guys reading?! Are you totally getting me mixed up with somoene else?
Nope. Just two.
One (Rebellion - really bad fic), she croaked at the end, and isn't posted anywhere because I hate that fic, and the other (War2) was scrapped because of the whole "Swan pregnant - we're sick of it" thing ...
One Night was only a pg scare on the part of the Eagle - she didn't even know about it, but she wasn't pregnant ...

Maybe I should write a kick ass pregnant fic ... But there are just so many of them around in other fandoms that I just ... I dunno.

RI/Cronus really did give a shit. He protected his son when in battle - something Nambu/Anderson was unable to do. He goaded Mark/Ken when needed, slapped him around a time or two in RI's case, and pushed to teach him to become a harder and more tactical a thinker/leader.
Sure the doctor raised the little guy, but the Ranger was there in the background, coming into the scene when Ken/Mark really needed it.
I never said that RI/Cronus moulded Ken/Mark's personality, but he certainly had a lot to do with what kind of leader Mark/Ken eventually became.
Eventually the man gave his life for the greater good ... Essentially saving his son from sacrifice.
From a non-duty standpoint, sure, he was an ass and totally brain-fucked the poor kid.
For the little time Mark/Ken knew Cronus/RI, his opinion was of a high regard. He never said anything negative about his father; and I honestly believe that Mark/Ken used the memory of his father to become a better soldier.
RI/Cronus stayng in the background after he was ultimately safe for return was better than he returning as "Daddy". Mark/Ken was already creating himself and growing into what he thought his father was, no sense in him returning and allowing his son to see he was, indeed, a different man.
The Eagle really is the Eagle because of the man he thought his father was.
Am I making any sense? I know, it's a fucked up rationale. I'm just making excuses for one of my favourite characters. Of course, that's only my take on it. I know we all have different opinions on it. It's mostly background stuff.
