Thanks for your best wishes about the surgery. I'm a bit apprehensive but I'm glad you're pulling for me. It's very sweet and kind of you. I'd also like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts--it's really good to know that people are rooting for you. Though I'm going to miss not being able to go on Gatchamania for awhile!

Saturn- Your brother has such detail and emotion in his pictures! They are just wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing them. ITA with Cloud - it would be fun to have your brother join the board too - a brother/sister act is always fun.

Dear all

Thank you so much for the compliments, guys!I have always been proud of my brother's talent and feel so happy to be able to share some of his drawings here. Unfortunately, he is not really into Gatchaman actually,and he only drew those pics because I have kept asking (more like begging, Smile ) him to draw them for me. Nevertheless, after seeing the pictures, they really worth all the trouble, right? biggrin2
And of course, I know my bro, he is just like Joe, rough from the outside, but just a softie in the inside, Biglaugh1

Anyway, my bro is very flatterred by all the compliments from all lovely ladies over here, maybe now I can really convince him to join the board and share more of his talent, Bounce2

Now if only I could persuade him to draw something "smutty" (I would love a smutty picture of Ken/Jun, I am SO OBSESSED over this pair), but then, my bro would realize that his sis is not as innocent as he thought, oh no, his sis has been very naughty all this time, Biglaugh2

Dear TJ & CD

Thank you for your nice suggestions, girls. Unfortunately my bro has just got a new job, in another city,no less. He will be so busy with it that another pic will have to be put on hold. I will surely miss him when he is not around, this is definitely the drawback of having only 1 sibling, Smile

Anyway, we are celebrating the Moon Cake Festival at my place right now, and although you all over there may not celebrate or even heard about this festival before, I just would like to share this moon cake with you (sorry, only this pic will have to do right now, perhaps one day I will be able to give you all the real thing, Smile )

 

The moon cake is usually imprinted with the Chinese Character for "Longevity" or "Harmony", and that's why I want to share it with you all here, especially for those people in the US who are affected by the hurricane Ike, may God bless & protect you and everybody around you.

I actually have eaten a moon cake! I was in San Francisco in 2004, and I'd never seen them before, but they looked good, so I bought one. It was tasty. I didn't know that there are moon cake festivals though, but it sounds like a good thing to have.

Thank you for sharing your celebration with us Saturn. I love the idea of a festival for the moon cake. What kinds of things do you do during the festival?

One of my 1st year grad students is from China and shared a moon cake with us last week. The contrast of the salty egg and the sweet bean paste was very unique - my undergrad students really didn't like it, not enough sugar for them I think. It took me by surprise, but I didn't dislike it. I would definitely snack on that again - but maybe with a glass of milk, it was a little dry!

Oooo, I know a little about the Moon cake festival. My parents were living in Singapore during the festival, sent us some cake back and told us about the festival. Unfortunately I do not remember much about what they said but I do remember they talked about it.
