The Archaeologica news page has to be the best archeaology site I've ever found. It is updated daily with the latest discoveries from around the world. It's an astounding site because we very rarely hear about discoveries in places other than Europe or North/South America, unless they are highly significant--and to me, all discoveries are important.

Some samples of the great news they report:

Experts Puzzle Over Newly Found Rock Carvings
China's Oldest Capital
Scientists Find Ancient Skull in Kenya

Of course, many of you might find this terribly boring, but to me, it's amazing to see how much work is still being done and how many discoveries are still being despite today's difficult political environment.

I like that sort of stuff too. My Hero is Sir Mark Aurel Stein, who spent his entire life in digs in central asia, made some amazing discoveries, had incredible adventures, wrote some corking books, supplied the British Museum with some of its finest exibits, and is now buried in Kabul.

Hes mostly forgotten about now.
