New Battle of the Planets Article
|
|
Hi all,
At last year’s Comic-Con, I met the publisher of a UK based magazine called cereal:geek - animation of the eighties. He’s a huge fan of Battle of the Planets and he invited me to write an article about the series. I’m happy to finally say it is set to be published in their next issue. As many of you know, I’ve been going through some ongoing medical difficulties, so this piece is my way of dipping my toes back into some work. I’m thankful to cereal:geek for their patience in allowing me the time to finish the article as I’ve been able.
The magazine normally focuses on 80s animated series like G.I. Joe, Masters of the Universe, Transformers, The Real Ghostbusters, ThunderCats, Dungeons & Dragons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the like. But they do the occasional feature on older shows and that’s where the Battle piece fits in. Their articles range from humorous musings to in-depth studies on any number of topics surrounding their animation focus. Some pieces are written by knowledgable fans, some by insiders who worked on the programs.
I have enjoyed the magazine from the first issue in 2007 and I don’t think you’ll be sorry if you order this upcoming one (and maybe a few back issues!). Each is full color, squarebound and filled with 100 pages of original article and art content.
My article will be in issue #15 and it looks at some of the most notable editing differences between Gatchaman and Battle of the Planets. A specific publication date hasn’t been set for the issue yet, but it should be soon.
Copies can be directly pre-ordered here:

The magazine can also be purchased from Graham Crackers Comics in North America but they don’t do pre-orders. If you want to purchase issue #15 from them you’ll have to wait until they get their copies in.

I believe cereal:geek is also offered in Previews Magazine for comic shops to order but I don’t know when issue #15 will be solicited, or if it has been already.
Thanks and I hope you all enjoy the article when it comes out!

Hi all,
The publisher of cereal:geek magazine issued an update today saying issues #15 and #16 will be printed by May. As mentioned in my post above, the Battle of the Planets article I wrote will appear in issue #15. There are only going to be 500 copies of each issue printed this time, so they probably won’t be around for long. If you didn't know about the article before now or haven't pre-ordered yet, now is the time!
There is no Battle of the Planets content in issue #16, but I’m including a link to get both issues together below as well.
Here are the direct links to pre-order:
Issue 15 only

Issues 15 and 16
http://www.cerealgeek.com/issue_15_16.html
I don’t see them listed at Graham Crackers Comics here in America yet, but here is their new search link anyhow:

Maybe contact them directly to see if they plan on importing issues #15 and #16.
Sorry I didn’t answer you ages ago, Daniella, but you will receive a paper copy. If you paid through PayPal, your mailing address will be included with the order. If not, you may want to write to the publisher to make sure they have your address.
Thanks to everyone who pre-ordered already. I hope you all enjoy the article!
Best,
The Other Jason
