I kept trying and it eventually worked. Smile

I do feel sorry for Emi. Her father's made her a prison with no consequences, where she can't keep her childhood friends, and he even tried to kill her protector friends. I'm not sure what kind of happiness she's suppose to have alive but alone.

I think her father is being rather selfish about her. Preventing her death is more about him not wanting to grieve for her than her staying alive.

Kind of explains why the episode title is "Insane Father."

I get the impression he's done a LOT of grieving, though. It's probably what drove him to the point where his sanity could be likened to that of a crate of hopping amphibians.

On a technical note, I cast this ep from the facebook page Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman Forever (thank you Katblu42 for finding this page where they make the eps available pretty much on the same day) to the brand new Chromecast for the first time and watched it on the TV screen. The quality was great. No annoying facebook, "more videos" button right over the top of the subtitles, either.

I'm now getting 6Mbps on my ADSL connection, which is as fast as the ageing copper pair and the ADSL1-enabled RIM will allow out here, so I can finally watch videos without buffering! Yay!

Now that we're getting into the series, maybe it's time to make the relationship official by... creating a TV Tropes page!

I thought of it while watching the flashbacks of Z as a (supposedly) sane and loving father, when I realised he had a Beard of Evil which must have signified his Crossing the Moral Event Horizon, so there's two tropes right there.

Heh. Is there a trope for Ken's stubble?

Good insight.

I think he's more interesting as a villain now that I know what he's trying to do and why -and it's selfish and twisted but also very, very human.

I understand better now too where Emi's depression comes from. Earlier there were times when it grated on me that she's living in a luxury home (where apparently all the expenses and maintenance just magically get taken care of somehow) with a bunch of hot guys and yet she's depressed! Confused1

Yeah context is everything, isn't it?
