Character Theme Songs

I used to watch the show Ally McBeal, and n that program they made a point of saying how everybody has their own theme song that they play in their head. I was wondering what the Gatch characters had for theme songs... what do you think?

Ken - Never Surrender (Corey Hart song for all of you Canadians out there)
Joe - Mr. Roboto (thanks to LB for suggesting this one!)
Jun - Wind Beneath My Wings
Jinpei - We're Not Gonna Take It
Ryu - Margaritaville

Okay, I know these are silly... can anyone come up with better ones?

Hmmm, how about this one?

Ken - Once The Feeling by Honeymoon Suite
Joe - All I'm Gonna Take by Autograph
Jun - The Dream (Hold On To Your Dream) by Irene Cara
Jinpei - Quicksilver Lightning by Roger Daltrey
Ryu - Dance All Over Your Face by Kiss (because of how he sits on the enemies' faces XD)

That's the best list I can think of (for now). What do you think?

I loved watching Ally McBeal! Need some thinking here ... I am in a bit of a hurry right now, but I'm eager to see what all of you will come out with!

RE: Character Theme Songs

I certainly remember Corey Hart!

Or maybe Queen's "Another one bites the dust?"

I could see Joe as more the angry, guitar-driven rock kind of guy. Maybe Judas Priest's "You've got another thing coming"?

That song from the Top Gun soundtrack, "Mighty Wings" (by Cheap Trick?) could suit Ken.

Or, I could see Ken and Jun singing that Jennifer Warnes/Joe Cocker duet "Up where we belong" from the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman," as I recall the lyrics are about struggle and getting to a place "Where the eagles fly."

The others... have to think some more.

Those all sound like good ideas, LB! And yeah, Mr. Roboto fits a bit more in Gatchaman II, so the first series might have had a different song for him. Wink

Danger Zone from Top Gun (the one that had the fic challenge) is another good song for Ken.

Never Surrender can work for Ken too. You've Got Another Thing Comin' can also work for Joe. The last few days, I've been thinking that if for whatever reason there was a Gatchaman musical (Hey, there was a Sailor Moon musical! Even plans for a Batman musical!) that Jun would cover 'The Dream (Hold On To Your Dream)' about 3 5th's through the musical. Some reason I think the song fits her. And to tell you the truth, there was recently a thread on another forum I'm at about if anime characters had their own celebrity playlists on iTunes, and I was thinking about what the Gatch gang would put on their playlists if they made their own ones and was going to make a thread about it here, but I haven't been able to think of enough songs to fill each playlist.

"Hold on to your Dream" makes me think of an old 1970s Triumph song (to plug another Canadian act), "Hold On" -more suitable for one of the guys, though.

I like the idea of a Gatchaman musical!

In fact, I just came up with an idea to write a fanfic involving her and the song, but I don't know if I'll write it though, because I need to think about it a little first.

A Gatchaman musical ... that would be nice!

Something at the spur of the moment:

Ken: "Imagine" - John Lennon
Joe: "Ridin' Solo" - Jason Derulo
Jun: "Mamma Mia" - ABBA
Jinpei: "Maria" - West Side Story
Ryu: "We all live in a Yellow Submarine" - Beatles

Another song for Joe could be 'I Can't Drive 55' by Sammy Hagar. Big Grin

Why thank you, clouddancer. I do try to put thought into my choices when I participate in threads like this.

Considering I have no idea what most of those songs sound like, it is good for me to see what other people like (and possible what I should have been listening to.) With my isolated childhood I did not participate in many teen activities like the rest of my peers. (I could not go to the school dances and did not listen to the radio to hear what was supposed to be "popular" music for my age group.)

But probably once I head over to youtube with the song titles in hand I will discover I have heard most of them. I just don't know the titles of the songs or the artists name.

I've drawn blanks on the team so far, but what about one for a character we know so little about?

How about Tanya Tucker's "Ridin' Rainbows" for Ken's mother?

I like No Doubt's "I'm Just a Girl" for Jun. Sung sarcastically, of course, since Jun's a girl that can kick ass.

Gatchamarie - I too love your choice of Maria for Jinpei.

Posted by gatchamarie on 31-08-2010 at 07:59:

I could just hear and imagine Jinpei humming it ... "Maria ... I just met a girl named Maria ..."!, over and over again!! *chuckles*

I love ABBA, too! So many memories! "Take a Chance on Me" is a very good one in Jun's case! Good choice, LB! I've forgotten about it! And, if Ken were a female, ABBA's "Money, Money, Money" would have suited him also, especially the first part of the song!

And, I'm loving all the choices that are being submitted!

Nuni ... I can well see Jun being sarcastic!

CD ... knowing the tune of songs when hearing them, but not knowing their titles or the artist's name is quite a normal thing! There are so many lovely pieces around, especially from the past, that it's impossible to remember everything about them! Music is to be enjoyed, so loving a song without knowing its particulars is also appreciative and descriptive of the very "you"! Huggles

slightly off track but I have this mental picture of
"It's raining men" as goon are thrown around or when the Birds are spiralling in the sky - sung by Jun?

Joe singing anything like Barry White, Tom Jones
Any drinking song (for Joe who is egging Ken on)

Janets song in Rocky Horror "Toucha Toucha Touch me I want to be naughty" for a frustrated Jun
Jun- "R.E.S.P.E.C.T yourself" as she is telling the guys off

Doors - "come on baby light my fire" for when they use explosives

Kazse line from song" and the birds are singing in the sky"
Kazse to Illuminus one - "Love in the first Degree" Bananarama

Oh, LW, I'm ROFL 2 at your choice of "It's Raining Men" for Jun when she's thinking of goons being thrown around!!
