I don't see how making the flowers grow bigger is going to thwart them. Make them so big, their xylem and phloem can no longer function efficiently enough for the flowers' size, or so that their stems aren't rigid enough to hold them upright? Confused1

Curious to see where this goes next!

Maybe Mark thinks the plants are like the 50-foot-tall ants from the sci fi flicks from the 1950's -- there could never be 50-foot-tall ants on earth because they'd be crushed by the weight of their exoskeletons. So, maybe he thinks the plants would be crushed by their own weight.

You know, you make a good point, LW! I wonder if these flowers (or heck, the original Jigokillers) were inspired by Little Shop of Horrors? Of course, there are also natural carnivorous plants which could have been the inspiration as well.
