I agree with Princess... it's nice to see her looking classy in a dress, but you'd think she'd pick a color other than pink!

I was hoping to never see that picture again. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
I have the whole comic collection, but in black and white, so I never saw the extent of the travesty.

Oh, come on, Becky, you know that picture makes you laugh every time you see it! It's so bad, it hurts!

All right, TJ. It does make me laugh, but it is pitiful. I really couldn't tell which one was Mark and which one was Jason.
KT - I've never seen a bulky Vulcan before and those guys looked bulky. Robots, maybe?

The artists on this comic probably also worked on the Star Trek comic book, hence the resemblance to Vulcans.

I didn't know that the Gold Key Comics people had gotten their hands on Star Trek too!
But I had to go and google it...
Found some (unrelated) pages:
The guy in the bottom right corner is apparently a Klingon (TOS-style, with no forehead ridge) but he sure has the Vulcan hairstyle!
As for "Captain" Anderson's bodyguards -has me wondering what might have resulted if Gold Key had tried a BOTP/Star Trek cross-over issue.
Oh no!!!!
Imagine R2D2 and C3PO trying to converse with the egotistical Zark?
I don't even want to go there!

Zark is already a R2D2/C3PO crossover! R2D2's body with C3PO's annoying voice and personality. I don't want to see what would happen if they ever met... unless it was that R2D2 destroyed Zark...
This is reminding me of LB's wonderful comic from the beginning of this thread!

Gold Key Comics were licensed to produce adaptations of numerous television shows. Wikipedia has an article on it.
C-3PO is much less annoying than Zark. And R2-D2 is actually able to do stuff.

We could have R2D2 zap Zark with his tazer and steal his voice, as anything R2D2 would have to say would be better than what Zark would say.

I wouldn't be surprised if George Lucas did raise an eyebrow at Zark, if he ever happened to see Battle of Planets -the imitation was so apparent!
We're forgetting the robot autopilot on the new God Phoenix in Gatch II... R2D2 imitation and/or plot device to give Ryu an excuse to leave the ship in his own G-machine tank. Its voice was sort of annoying too, though thankfully it had far less to say than Zark!
I'm sure there were MANY copies of R2D2 in various 70s shows. Star Wars was far too popular not to be imitated.
I don't mind Pimer (the Gatch II autopilot). As you say, LB, he served an appropriate purpose (flying the ship, to allow Ryu to get off and go on missions and have his own G-machine) and didnt' talk too often. And when he did talk, it was very 'mechanical' and impersonal... NO personality quirks!
