Pretty sure there are subs in the ADV release. Wendy Dinsmore was going to check them out. And, yeah, I prefer subbed. I like hearing what the original director wanted.
Question, though. Is it my limitted exposure, or do/did Japanese women consider those high voices desirable?

Good question. Well I know it DOESNT work for me! I still cringe and twitch in memory of my first exposure to the Japanese version of Dragon Ball Z., and Goku's high pitched girly squeal!

All's not lost then, if its subbed!! * fingers crossed fervently praying for it to be so!!*
As for the multiregion thing, Seems like most of you are in UK....START NETWORKING!! Get some kind of mini-viewing party thang happening with anyone who DOES happen to have a multi-region player in your area!
If all else fails, spend the thousands to get your butts Down Under, bring ADV, and come watch it at my place!
(Hang on, Ill probably turn the whole thing into a drinking game party viewing, and we'll be seriously drunk by episode 105! *HICGRIN*

Just to clarify for members of the board, ADV's GATCHAMAN DVDs, like their other anime releases, contain six episodes per disc -- both subbed and dubbed. As for the fear that they will not make it through all 105 episodes... since they paid for the rights to license all 105, they would be wasting money *not* putting them all out. Rhino dropped the ball, but ADV won't. But, we need to get out there and help ADV to let people know the series is out. If the sales are good, I would hope that they would get GATCH II and GATCH FIGHTER... but, I am completely happy with the original series only.
Peace,
August

I have read all about the 3 orignal series, and I think the first one is better by the sounds of it.

ok lets get this straight.
Its subbed as well as dubbed.
Its region 1 but can be played on multi region dvd players OR on PC's , provided we are aware of the limited times we can change regions on PC.
And each DVD contains about 5- 6 episodes. (damn damn damn)
And from the reviews on http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00096S3OU/ref=pm_dp_ln_d_3/002-6969795-0944816?v=glance&s=dvd&n=507846 its still worth watching, esp in its uncut original form, despite the dubious dubbing efforts of new voice actors.
Im sold!
Gonna try and see if any comic stores around here have ordered it yet, before I try out Amazon. Fingers crossed .
