In the hurry I was in this morning I think I gave the wrong answer to this statement! Sorry, but I thought that the subject was still Nambu and I kept pinpointing it! You and TJ sharing the same thoughts is a good thing and it shows! TJ, sorry for your lost files ... hope you have recovered them.

Future episode reviews. What I need is a week frozen in time with no other distractions to catch up on all of my work that needs to be done. Sigh...
Who ever said summer was relaxing????

TJ, I hope that somehow your files can be found... Either that, or a few "friends" come over to relieve the stress.

Oh man, there are few things that can get me swearing like a fiend, but a crashed computer is one of them. Treacherous, perverse little ****s! I'm so sorry to hear this!

That's my problem! Between Comic Con and my vacation in August, I only have another 2 weeks to get everything done for Fall!

Sorry about the lost files TJ - things like that only happen to me when there is a deadline in sight.

So having him looking like a character from a 1970s Blacksploitation film is better? Besides, wouldn't having him as a Japanese man be just as effective?
James |

Oh, I'm not saying they made the best possible choice - I am just finding a way to get on board with it. I agree that grounding him as a Japanese man would have been equally effective and in my mind the better choice.
Like it or not, there are going to be changes to some of the things we have come to love. The Nambu change is one I can find a way embrace - at least in theory. I'm not sure if it will really work in execution.
Hopefully, they will also change some things we don't love (or I should say I don't love) - like Ken's propensity to slap girls around. I could live without that appearing again.

Team birdstyle pose- so dark...

And...is Dr. Nambu channeling Samuel L. Jackson?

Oh boy... I never noticed that Dr. Nambu looked different until I saw these close-up pictures. And Jun Go-Go Dancing? Hmmmm, I'm having mixed feelings about the film now. I'm worried about what other changes they'll make.

I dont think his race mtters as long as we recognise him as Nambu...

And all of this stuff was by a different director who is long since gone... so *if* the movie ever gets made, it will likely be quite different from all of these shots.

Told you. With a bit of his Afro Samurai character thrown in for good measure.
It does make me wonder if they are/were hoping to get Mr. Jackson for the role.
James |
|
Do we have confirmation that's supposed to be Nambu, or maybe some other character?
I too, would like for no major changing to be made to any of the characters.

You do have a good point. It might not be Nambu. It could be somebody else.

As long as they keep him like that! And, I think this goes to every character or thing we saw regarding the possible movie! If things keep on going in the way they're going, if the movie ever comes out, everything will be changed in it ... hopefully, more abiding to the original Gatchaman characters and story!

I honestly don't think there is any problem with introducing different ethnicities into the film.
As long as it is not to the team itself.
Think about the make up of our societies today our ethnicities are all mixed together and will continue to do so. In the future (which is the original timeline of Gatch) the "white" population will be in the minority.

I agree ... the most important thing for me is to at least keep the original characters intact ... including that of Dr. Nambu! I do not wish to see something entirely different from that with which I've grown up!
