I guess I tend to think of the Federation having a military sort of in the same sense that the UN has a military or NATO has a military -forces contributed by member nations (or in the BOTP case, planets) but operating under the overall auspices of the Federation -or at least for certain missions. But I can't think of too much canon to support this... Are the Rigan Red Rangers ever shown operating on planets that are not Riga?

You'd be surprised how common that is. My brother has been in situations where, despite being on duty, he has been ordered to where civilian attire.

I don't think my brother has, but I can see why it would be advantageous to blend in, in certain situations.

Seeing as Anderson wears the exact same outfit everyday, I suppose it could be considered a uniform of sorts!

Laziness on the artists part. That's one thing I liked about Totally Spies. Their civilian clothing was always different.

I thought Cronus showed up on Earth at least once.

Time to go over to James' site to see what he says about the Federation.

In the episode where the big plane (Blue Hawk?) was stolen, the Rangers were operating on Spectra... at Anderson's request.

Ease of animation. You can re-use the cels if nobody dresses differently.

If we count the red planes as being piloted by Rangers, I remember they appeared on Mir to bail out the team and in the ant episode, also.

Did you mean Jason's site?

I believe Zark says those red planes were meant to be a squadron of Mir fighter jets. I have to admit it confused me when I was a child, why would the Mir jets looked the same as Ranger jets.

Probably one of those things you weren't supposed to notice! Smirk

Or perhaps the Red Rangers and the other planets' air forces simply buy their jets from the same supplier?

I kept thinking there was something on Aquatica, in the "Sea Dragon" ep, so I checked. According to Zark, it's the "major repair center for the entire inter-galactic defense force."

I guess this could mean that the Federation's Galaxy Security does have some other forces at their disposal in addition to G-Force (even though we almost never see them)?

ROFL 2 Too funny! I can just see it now... Crazy Al's Discount Aircraft Warehouse! Chief Anderson moving through the warehouse aisles with his membership card and a massive shopping cart.... ha!

Interesting observation about Aquatica, LB. I didn't know that. It sounds like you might be right about that Galaxy Security force.

UW, I think your'e right about being cheaper to animate if they wear the same outfits. Although I think perhaps it might just be easier for the animators... you never have to think about what the character is wearing... it's always the same!

From Jason's website: "Known Federation member planets include Riga, Space Island, Leucadia, Eden and Arcturus, with the latter being Earth's sister planet".

And as per Unpublished Writer's fic alert in the review for the episode "Raid on a nearby planet", what's so important about planet Vega that Spectra wants it so much? Wink1

My post here last night never showed up.

Yes I meant Jason's. I don't know why I keep saying James'.

Probably because we all know that James is a Gatch Guru! Wink

And now we see what has become of Zoltar after G-Forde defeat him... or have we?

You know... I wonder if Zoltar really is a robot? In this comic series, anything could happen! ROFL 2

Hmmm, kind of my first thought TJ. What makes Mark and Jason so sure that Zoltar was not a robot and this was not him? Wink

They probably can't handle the idea of a robot being the leader of an entire planet -after all, they know Zark. Smirk

pound Perfect, LB! Although, if the entire planet of Spectra were robots, then it would be okay to kill them, right? You'd think they'd be relieved by this discovery! ROFL 2

Lol

Ohhh, you are right, LB. And TJ, that would fit right in with the BOTP ethos about killings.

Isn't that the theme of Eagle Riders? or was it G-Force?

At least they got the colors right this time.

I love your comment about Crazy Al' Discount Aircraft Warehouse, TJ. Reminds me of the aircraft graveyard out west.

Never heard of the aircraft graveyard, but the mothball fleet is not too far from where I live.

It could be one and the same, but I thought the graveyard was in New Mexico. Will have to go check.

Apparently, there are several throughout the country, some private, some military. The one I'm thinking of is military, near Tucsan, Arizona.
