I thought the same thing. They can't eat something like that without having some sort of side effects.

Of course, if I'm remembering right (and considering the grades I got in high school biology, I might not be), ants don't eat their food on sight, they carry it back to the colony.

As someone else who is extremely fearful of spiders (I can't watch Arachnaphobia and had a difficult time with the Giant spiders in Harry Potter on the big screen), they just look like badly drawn ants.
