Grump. My kids did patterns with pumpkins and apples, squirrels and nuts, Christmas trees and candy canes, snowmen hats and noses and scarves, red and pink and violet hearts, and bunnies and eggs and chocolate bars. All that time, and they could have been learning something practical! (Although it really shocks you the first time a kid uses a pattern in the real world, like trading times to watch the TV.)
