The boomerang/God Phoenix package is terrific! I actually use the boomerang with my Eagle costume. It's perfectly sized! Unfortunately, it doesn't fold up, though.

Thank you KT! So far, it's the only one I have ever seen in the auctions in Japan. Funny that the boomerang or the bracelets were never produced as a toy.....many of the weapons from Gatchaman II are available, but sadly the original ones no.

Yes TJ it's an amazing item! Very rare and unique, even though can't be folded as in the original series.....

Please share your photo in Eagle costume! I would love to see it!

Thank you Springie! Poor Santa, the box was nearly 12 kg, so I guess he must have thought that it was for the entire neighborhood jeje.....but surprise, it was only me...

I got the Laser Discs from Gatchaman Fighter, they are indeed very very heavy!

Actually, Takatoku did make a toy of Ken's Boomerang back when Gatchaman was originally airing. It was released as part of two different kid-sized Gatchaman belt sets. The first was the Energy Belt Set, which included the belt with the "G" logo on it, a holster for the Boomerang, and a small pouch for whatever a kid might wish to put in it. The set was rounded out with a toy watch and a gray plastic Boomerang with a black rubber tip. The wings on the Boomerang could be opened and closed. You can see pictures of this set here:

http://homepage1.nifty.com/signal_g/galink/goodskan/omotya/subomotya/energybelt.html

The second set was the Talking Belt Set. This set looks very similar to the Energy Belt Set, except that the empty pouch on the belt has been replaced with a pouch designed to hold a small box that says several different phrases with the button on it is pushed. While the same Boomerang toy as found in the Energy Belt Set was also included, they did leave out the toy watch. Pictures of this set can be seen here:

http://homepage1.nifty.com/signal_g/galink/goodskan/omotya/subomotya/talkbelt.html

The voice box says three phrases, orders from Dr. Nambu. They are, "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. Let's go. Gallactor!," "Go, Ken, the Eagle. Transform into Gatchaman!" and "Transform! Science Ninja Team Gatchaman."

It should also be noted that, for both toys, Takatoku incorrectly called the Boomerang a "Bird Knife."

You are correct that Popy made toys of several of the Gatchaman II weapons. They made toys of Ken's Bird Saucer, Joe's Feather Shuriken, and Jun's Aurora Ribbon. Rounding out the set was a toy of the Sonic Gun, which they released under the incorrect name "Freezer Gun." These came as part of an entire line of Gatchaman II kid-sized dress-up items that also included a helmet, a cape, and a belt.

For Gatchaman Fighter, Popy only made one new kid-sized toy weapon. Not surprisingly, that toy was of Ken's Gatchaman Fencer.

Hola James!

Thank you so much for sharing. Wow! Those are really cool toys! Especially the first one.

Actually a seller is offering it but he's asking about 200 USD for it and there is no boomerang. That's why I thought were none produced.

Well, I will wait patiently for them, hopefulły in the future someone decide to sell one (not so expensive).

Thanks again for sharing!!!!

I know the auction listing you're referring to. The listing didn't say anything about the Boomerang being missing, but it didn't claim it was present either. Neither of the pictures they had of the boxed set had an angle that showed it in the box. but the set didn't look played with. So, I assumed the Boomerang was there, but you never know.

Regardless, someone bought the set (Not me, as I already have one) with a winning bid of 32,500 yen (About $270.00 at current exchange rates). So, for their sake, I do hope the set is complete.

Yes, it's strange that through all these years there really haven't been any nice, quality toys of the boomerang or the bracelet. As pointed out by James, there were other one piece boomerangs produced in the past.

But the best bracelet I've seen so far was one that came in a Spanish toy set. It had an adjustable black (or red) plastic band and a lenticular face that went from plain yellow, to a version of the scramble signal. It wasn't perfect, but at least they did something!

The bracelet is in the "Space Ray With Light" package at the top of this link:

When I was with SFE, I tried to get a bracelet replica off the ground. I had some detailed plans drawn up for a functional timepiece that had a light and could make the appropriate sounds. Maybe someday!

At least we can do the digital faces on fancy watches today. Smile If I ever get an Apple Watch I might just set that up, LOL.

That's the best reason to get an Apple Watch that I've heard!
